We are delighted to welcome the Class of 2028 to the Emory community! Below is a high level overview of what you can expect from now until the fall. 

Update Contact Information in Opus

In order to receive essential information throughout the summer, contact information for both students and their families needs to be correct within OPUS. Only family members who are added in OPUS will receive family-specific email communications.

Students should update OPUS by using the following steps:

  1. Retrieve their Emory NetID and passwordThis is different from the Admissions Application Portal login. 
  2. Log into OPUS using Emory NetID and password.
  3. Click on the “Profile” tile, then update their and their family members’ contact information. 
    • Select “Email and Phone Numbers.” Review and update if needed. Click “Save” to submit changes.
    • Select “Parent/Guardian Addresses.” Review and update if needed. Click “Save” to submit changes.

Your First-Year To-Do List

The First-Year Checklist is a comprehensive list of action items that you will need to complete before Move-In. Below are important items included on the First-Year Checklist that take time and preparation. Start gathering documents and scheduling appointments now. 

  • Immunization Submission 
  • Housing Application MyHousing Portal will go live in April 
  • I-20 & DS-2019 for students on an F-1 visa
  • Health Insurance Waiver (if applicable) 

Summer Onboarding Support At-A-Glance

  • The Emory Welcome App 
  • Bi-weekly communications to both students and families will begin mid-May
  • Family Focused Orientation Videoswill begin in June, 2024
  • Summer Send-off registration will open in June, 2024
  • Pre-Registration Advising via Zoom led by an Academic Advisor will begin July, 2024 

We will guide students and families every step of the way this summer!

Important Dates for Planning Include:

  • Late May: Emory Welcome: Oxford edition, learning modules that need to be completed throughout the summer, open in Canvas.
  • July 1: Register for International Student Welcome (ISW) required for F-1 visa holders
  • July 15, 2024: Housing assignments released
  • August 12-14: Course registration for first-year students
  • August 17: International students begin arriving for International Student Welcome
  • August 17-22: International Student Welcome program  
  • August 14-17: Ignite Pre-Orientation Program
  • August 23: Move-in day!
  • August 23-28:New Student Orientation  begins (international students join the first-year program)
  • August 28, 2024: First Day of Classes Fall 2024
  • September 2, 2024: Labor Day
    • No classes, res halls and dining remain open
  • September 4: Fall tuition due
  • October 14 - 15, 2024: Fall Break
    • No classes, res halls and dining remain open
  • November 27 - 29, 2024: Thanksgiving Break**
    • No classes, res halls and dining remain open
  • December 12 - 18, 2024: Final Exams**
  • January 14, 2025: First Day of Classes Spring 2025
