Direct Costs (Appearing under the Student Accounts tile in OPUS):

The "Direct Cost Subtotal" above lists the charges that are billed through Emory’s Student Accounts and Billing Office and will appear under Charges Due from the Student Accounts tile in OPUS.

Emory Tuition:

Since the students who are participating in the program will be fully enrolled at Emory and receive Emory credit, they will be charged regular Emory tuition for participation in the program. You will receive a Charges Due email notification prompting you to log into OPUS for viewing amounts owed for the term from Emory's Office of Student Accounts and Billing during the normal billing cycle for the semester.

Indirect Costs (Estimated Additional Expenses):

The "non-billable subtotal" above lists the additional estimated expenses.

The following items are only estimates of additional expenses. These additional expenses could vary greatly depending on the individual student's spending habits, restaurant choices, personal shopping and additional travel plans.

  • Airfare: This is an estimated average cost for a round-trip flight from Atlanta to London. You will need to arrange and pay for your own air travel, departing from Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson Airport for London. Your return flight from London can be to the city of your choice.

  • Books and/or Supplies: This is an estimated cost for academic materials for the semester.

  • Personal Expenses:This is an estimated amount for incidental or miscellaneous costs associated with daily life in London. This does not include personal travel and will vary based on individual spending habits.
  • Local Transportation: IES Abroad will provide students with initial travel funds upon arrival to cover transportation during their first weeks in London. After that, students will receive £45 per week in transportation funds, distributed onto a UK debit card, which they use to purchase or topoff their weekly Travelcards. Students are responsible for managing these funds. These funds are intended to cover typical commuting needs; however, individual routines or optional activities may result in additional local transportation costs.
  • Meals: A dining meal plan will be available for Oxford Launch students. This plan includes daily breakfast and dinner; students are responsible for arranging their own lunches based on preferences and routines. All students are automatically enrolled in the meal plan. If you prefer to make your own meal arrangements, you must optout via the MyHousing portal by June 15, 2026. If you do not opt out by this deadline, you will remain enrolled and will be financially responsible for the full cost of the meal plan.
Cost of Living Considerations:

London is one of the largest and most international cities in the United Kingdom, and living costs reflect that. Everyday expenses may feel higher than what many students are accustomed to in the United States. We encourage you to keep the exchange rate and London’s cost of living in mind when planning your budget.
