Getting Started
We are delighted to welcome the Class of 2029 to the Emory community! Below is a high level overview of what you can expect from now until the fall.
Update Contact Information in Opus
In order to receive essential information throughout the summer, contact information for both students and their families needs to be correct within OPUS. Only family members who are added in OPUS will receive family-specific email communications.
Students should update OPUS by using the following steps:
- Retrieve their Emory NetID and password. This is different from the Admissions Application Portal login.
- Log into OPUS using Emory NetID and password.
- Click on the “Profile” tile, then update their and their family members’ contact information.
- Select “Email and Phone Numbers.” Review and update if needed. Click “Save” to submit changes.
- Select “Parent/Guardian Addresses.” Review and update if needed. Click “Save” to submit changes.
Your First-Year To-Do List
The First-Year Checklist is a comprehensive list of action items that you will need to complete before Move-In. Below are important items included on the First-Year Checklist that take time and preparation. Start gathering documents and scheduling appointments now.- Immunization Submission
- Housing Application MyHousing Portal will go live in April
- I-20 & DS-2019 for students on an F-1 visa
- Health Insurance Waiver (if applicable)
Summer Onboarding Support At-A-Glance
- The Emory Welcome App
- Bi-weekly communications, Eagle Updates, to both students and families will begin mid-May
- Family Focused Orientation Videos will begin in June 2025
- Pre-Registration Advising via Zoom led by an Academic Advisor will begin July 2025

Important Dates for Planning Include:
- May 15: Oxford First Year Experience (FYE) Canvas Course opens (learning modules that need to be completed throughout the summer)
- July 1: Deadline to register for International Student Welcome (ISW); required for F-1 visa holders
- July 15: Housing assignments released
- August 5-7: Course registration for first-year students
- August 17: International students begin arriving for International Student Welcome
- August 17-22: International Student Welcome Program
- August 18-21: Ignite Pre-Orientation Program
- August 22: Move-in day!
- August 22-27:New Student Orientation begins (international students join the first-year program)
- August 27: First Day of Classes Fall 2025
- September 1: Labor Day
- No classes, res halls and dining remain open
- September 4: Fall tuition due
- October 13-14: Fall Break
- No classes, res halls and dining remain open
- November 26-28: Thanksgiving Break**
- No classes, res halls and dining remain open
- December 11-17 : Final Exams**
- January 13, 2026: First Day of Classes Spring 2026
