This page highlights the major dates you and your family should know as you prepare for your first semester with Oxford Launch: London. These dates help you plan ahead for travel, orientation, and your transition into the semester abroad.
Detailed task deadlines and step‑by‑step instructions will be available in the London Essentials Canvas course, which opens in mid‑May.

Mid-May
London Essentials Canvas Course opens
Canvas becomes your secure onboarding portal for all final program details, including arrival-day procedures, forms, and required tasks.
August 19-20
AugustOxford Launch Pre-Orientation (Oxford College Campus)
The Oxford Launch cohort participates in a two‑day pre-orientation designed specifically for students beginning their Oxford experience with an international start. You’ll meet members of the Oxford community who will support you throughout the program, connect with your cohort, and receive essential guidance to prepare for your London start. Attendance is required.
August 21-25
Oxford College New Student Orientation (NSO)
All Oxford Launch students participate in NSO alongside the full incoming first‑year class. NSO is an important part of the international‑start experience, giving you the chance to meet your classmates, take part in Oxford traditions like the Oxford Olympics and Coke Toast, and begin building your community before departing for London.
August 25
Students Depart for London
Students should plan to depart the United States on an overnight flight on this date. Oxford‑coordinated transportation from campus to Hartsfield‑Jackson Atlanta International Airport will be available for students.
August 26
Required Arrival in London
Students must arrive in London by 11:00 a.m. local time to participate fully in on‑site orientation and move into housing. Final arrival instructions and transportation guidance will be provided in Canvas.
August 26-31
London Orientation & Welcome Events
After arriving in London, students participate in a multi‑day orientation hosted by IES Abroad. This orientation helps students get settled into their housing, learn how to navigate the city, meet on‑site staff, and continue building community with their cohort. Required orientation programming continues through the first day of classes.
September 1
First Day of Class
Cheers to the first day of class in London!
October 12-16
Midterm Exams
All classes pause this week for midterm exams. Students will follow a dedicated exam schedule and have additional time for studying, projects, and academic preparation.
October 19-23
Midterm Break (No Classes)
Students enjoy a weeklong break following midterms. This is a chance to rest, explore London, or travel independently. There is no class or required academic programming during this period.
December 7-10
Final Exams
Classes pause during final exam week. Students will complete final assessments, projects, or exams according to the posted exam schedule. Details will be shared in Canvas.
December 13
Program End & Residence Hall Move‑Out
The Oxford Launch semester concludes on this date. Students must move out of their residence hall and may return home or travel independently afterward. Oxford College does not require students to return to campus until January 2027.
